  • The World Bank is initiating a study on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) inpublic transport across major cities in Indonesia. This study aims to addressthe issue of safety and security for women in public transportation and willexplore the issue of gender-based violence, specifically focusing on thedynamic interplay between physical spaces and the experiences of individuals,particularly women, as they move and navigate through public transport spaces. The assignment will involve two main components: 1) conductingcomprehensive on-the-ground surveys and qualitative interviews to capturetrends and the scale of GBV in urban public transport and 2) developing apractical guideline for GBV prevention and response inpublic transport. The selected consultancy firm will assess policy,institutional governance, and service delivery systems related to GBVprevention in public transport, providing actionable recommendations forstakeholders. Ultimately, This study will support national and subnationalgovernments in implementing practical guidance to enhance women's safety inpublic transport.
