  • The Ecosystem Approach to Aquaculture (EAA) had been initiated by the Aquaculture Directorate of MMAF based on the FAO Technical Guidelines for Responsible Fisheries 5, Supplemen 4, related to the Ecosystem Approach to Aquaculture. The EAA adoption in Indonesia had some stages since 2014 such as serial workshops and socialization activities, the development of the EAA indicators by experts, field-tested EAA indicators, and the development of EAA Guidelines. The EAA guideline was established in 2014 through the Aquaculture Directorate of MMAF Decree No. 154/2019. The objective of EAA guidelineis to provide guidance for national and local government, private sector, community, and other stakeholders on the management of aquaculture area based on ecosystem approach. The expected result related to the EAA implementation is the aquaculture area will have productive, efficient, profitable, and sustainable management practices.According to the background, IFish Project will conduct the Ecosystem Approach to Aquaculture (EAA) training for addressing the aquaculture area management. This activity will contribute to achieving the number of trained persons in responsible aquaculture, including trained 30% women. The EAA training will achieve at least trained 288 persons in Sukabumi, Cilacap, Kampar, Kapuas, South Barito, Patratani, and at national level. This activity will contribute to Output 2.1.4: Capacity development of local communities for improved fisheries production and sustainable use of inland aquatic ecosystems. The objective of this activity is to develop the training material and implement the Ecosystem Approach to Aquaculture (EAA) Training.Definition of Outputs and/or Outcomes1. Availability of training curriculum and four (4) training materials for Ecosystem Approach to Aquaculture (EAA) training. 2. At least trained 288 participants on Ecosystem Approach to Aquaculture in five districts of IFish Project site (Sukabumi, Cilacap, Kampar, Kapuas, and South Barito), Patratani Palembang, and at the national level of which at least 30% are women.
